What are 3 of the most DANGEROUS kinds of Christian leaders?
- Broke, but in want. The Christian leader who is always broke, but always in want, will find themselves tempted to misuse God’s money, God’s people. and God’s house. They usually are not a tither them self, but want others to give greatly.
- Single, but looking. The Christian leader who desires to be in a relationship soon finds many opportunities to lust. People with needs are vulnerable, and are easily taken advantage of. The “single-but-looking” leader must have an accountability partner (like all leaders should).
- Believes, but not all of it. The Christian leader who discounts parts of the Bible, or does not believe that Jesus Christ is in fact the Creator and Lord, will soon find themselves making many allowances to the plainest of God’s truths. They will teach and preach out of context; leading many into false assurances.
The Bible is plain, not every Christian should be a teacher or leader of other Christians; and there are certain qualifications that must be met. God sets the standards, and He does the calling; and He will judge those in leadership with a greater strictness, because they were given a greater responsibility.
As you seek to study more about Christian leadership, some helpful readings would be Acts, 1&2 Corinthians, 1&2 Timothy, Titus, Jude, and the 4 gospels.
There is nothing wrong with examining the life, testimony, and beliefs of those in leadership at your church. If they object, there is already a problem.
