Many trip over themselves trying to avoid church, Bible reading, service, giving, and prayer; and that is understandable if you are unsaved. But did you know the same principle that keeps the unsaved from the things of God also works in the life of the believer?
These 3 scriptures give great insight into why people avoid God:
- Their deeds do not permit them to return to their God. For the spirit of whoredom is within them, and they know not the LORD. (Hosea 5:4)
- But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2)
- You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. (James 4:4)
So, how do you make a change? These next verses will guide you:
- If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
- Now repent of your sins and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped away. (Acts 3:19)
- 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. 11 For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. 13 For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10)
