Why you should stop praying….
Do you remember the show “Baretta”? It was a typical cop show in the 70’s. The theme music is what most people seem to remember. Sammy Davis Jr. sang “Keep your eye on the sparrow”; and one line in particular stood out; “Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time”.
People seem to spend a lot of time praying when they suffer the consequences of their decisions; and some even get mad at God when He allows hardship. If you are going to continue to ignore God until you are in pain, then let me give you 5 good reasons to just stop praying:
- God’s word tells us plainly that sin and foolish living will bring heartache
- God established churches to teach you and encourage you to live right
- God sent people in your life to help you avoid trouble
- God’s Spirit speaks to you so you can stop making bad decisions
- God’s mercy has already provided you with many second chances
Tired of self-imposed heartache? Then don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time; because if you are only going to pray after you mess up, you can expect a lot of trouble in your life; and really, how sincere are you?
If you are truly ready to repent and do it God’s way, then let me give you some scripture that will get you going in the right direction; and remember, if you are not willing to read the Bible, then you are still not sincere about changing: 1 John 1:9; Deuteronomy 28-30 (yes, all 3 chapters); 2 Corinthians 5:17-21; James 1-5 (yes, all 5 chapters)
I do not want to see you and your family to keep on suffering, and neither does God; but it is time that some folks make up their mind and decide whether or not Jesus Christ is really the way, the truth, and the life (Joshua 24:15).
